The Chardham of Uttarakhand is an important Hindu pilgrimage circuit located in the Indian Himalayas. The Chardham is located in the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand.
The Chardham Yatra circuit consists of four sites: Kedarnath, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Gangotri. All of these locations are believed to be highly sacred by the Hindu religion. Kedarnath is believed to be home to lord Shiva and Badrinath is home to Lord Vishnu. Yamunotri represents the Goddess of Shakti Yamuna while Gangotri represents the Goddess of Shakti.

Day- 1 HARIDWAR TO PHOOLCHATTI VIA BARKOT
From Haridwar, you will travel to Phoolchatti via Barkot. On the first day of the tour, you must report to Rahi Motel in Haridwar one day before the departure. This ensures that all necessary arrangements are made, and you have a hassle-free journey ahead. The tour begins early in the morning, and you will be driven toward Barkot at an elevation of 1,220 meters. The journey is scenic, passing through lush green forests and cascading waterfalls. You will get to witness Uttarakhand's natural beauty and its mountainous landscape's charm. Upon reaching Barkot, you can rest for the night at your hotel and prepare for the upcoming pilgrimage tour of the Char Dhams.
Day- 2 PHOOLCHATTI TO YAMUNOTRI
On the second day of the Char Dham Yatra, you will leave Phoolchatti early in the morning to reach Yamunotri, which is at an altitude of 3,293 meters. The journey from Phoolchatti to Yamunotri involves an 8-km drive followed by a 10-km trek. You will first drive to Jankichatti, the tour's starting point to Yamunotri. Here, you will stop for breakfast at the GMVN Tourist Rest House, a comfortable place to rest and refuel before embarking on the trek. The trek to Yamunotri is steep and challenging, but the beautiful scenery and the spiritual significance of the place will make it all worth it. You will see the Yamuna River and bathe in hot water springs, believed to have medicinal properties. After seeking the blessings of Goddess Yamuna at the Yamunotri temple, you will return to Jankichatti and then drive back to Phoolchatti to rest for the night.
Day -3 PHOOLCHATTI TO HARSIL
On the following day of the Char Dham Yatra, you will travel by bus from Phoolchatti to Harsil, a small picturesque village on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. The journey will cover a distance of around 200 km, and you will depart from Phoolchatti at 6 am. You will halt for breakfast at Barkot before continuing your journey toward Uttarkashi. Upon reaching Uttarkashi at around 1 pm, you will visit the famous Vishwanath Temple and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. After this spiritual visit, you will depart from Uttarkashi at around 2 pm and continue your journey towards Harsil. The scenic drive from Uttarkashi to Harsil is a treat for the eyes, and you will get to witness the region's natural beauty. The bus will arrive at Harsil around 5 pm, where you will check in to your hotel and rest for the night. Harsil is known for its stunning views of the Himalayas and the Bhagirathi River, and you can spend the evening soaking in the serene beauty of the place.
Day -4 HARSIL TO GANGOTRI AND UTTARKASHI
On the fourth day of the Char Dham Yatra, you will travel from Harsil to Gangotri and Uttarkashi. The journey will start early at 6 am, and after a scenic drive of about 125 kilometers, you will arrive at Gangotri at around 7.30 am. You will halt for breakfast at the Tourist Rest House in Gangotri before proceeding toward the Gangotri temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Here, you can take a holy dip in the river Ganga, believed to wash away sins, and then offer your prayers at the temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ganga, and it is thought that the river originated from the feet of Lord Shiva. After spending some time in Gangotri, you will depart post-lunch at around 1 pm to travel towards Uttarkashi, which will be your halt for the night. Uttarkashi is a beautiful town located on the banks of the river Bhagirathi, and it is known for its ancient temples and spiritual significance. You will arrive in Uttarkashi at around 4.30 pm, where you can rest for the night at your hotel and prepare for the upcoming journey. The entire route from Harsil to Gangotri and Uttarkashi is scenic and offers a glimpse of the mesmerizing natural beauty of the Himalayan region.
Day -5 UTTARKASHI TO GUPTKASHI, VIA CHAMBA/NEW TEHRI
The fifth day of the Char Dham Yatra will take you from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi, covering a distance of around 275 kilometers by bus. The journey will start at 6 am, and you will travel through Uttarakhand's picturesque valleys and mountain ranges. The drive from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi will take you through Chamba and New Tehri, two quaint towns known for their scenic beauty and historical importance. You will stop for breakfast at the GMVN tourist rest house at Chinyalisaur, a small town on the Yamuna River's banks. The rest house is known for its delicious breakfast options. After breakfast, you will continue toward Guptkashi, located at an altitude of 1,319 meters above sea level. The drive will take you through winding mountain roads, picturesque villages, and lush green forests. You will reach Guptkashi in the evening and check into your hotel for the night. Guptkashi is an important pilgrimage site known for its ancient temples and scenic beauty. The town is located at the confluence of the rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda and is surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Himalayas. You can spend the evening exploring the town and enjoy the serene ambiance of the place.
Day -6 GUPTKASHI TO KEDARNATH, VIA GAURIKUND
The sixth day of the Char Dham Yatra will take you from Guptkashi to Kedarnath via Gaurikund. You will begin your journey early in the morning, and the day's itinerary involves a bus journey and a trek. You will board the bus from Guptkashi and travel about 35 kilometers to reach Gaurikund, the tour's starting point to Kedarnath. Gaurikund is a small town located on the Mandakini River's banks and is considered an important pilgrimage site. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Goddess Parvati meditated here to win the heart of Lord Shiva. The town is also home to a natural hot spring, which is considered to have medicinal properties. After reaching Gaurikund, you will begin your trek toward Kedarnath, located at an altitude of 3,583 meters. The tour is challenging, covering a distance of around 17 kilometers. The route is filled with steep inclines, rocky terrain, and narrow pathways, and it can take anywhere between 6-8 hours to complete the trek. However, the stunning views of the snow-capped peaks and the natural beauty of the surrounding valleys make the tour worth the effort. You will reach Kedarnath by late afternoon and check into your hotel. Kedarnath is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Lord Shiva devotees, and the Kedarnath Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is located amid the snow-covered Himalayas and is considered a holy site for Hindus. You can spend the evening exploring the temple complex and soaking in the spiritual atmosphere of the place.
Day -7 KEDARNATH, GAURIKUND/RAMPUR TO TILWARA
On the seventh day of the Char Dham Yatra, you will bid farewell to Kedarnath and start your journey toward Tilwara. After offering prayers at the Kedarnath temple and having breakfast, you will start your trek back to Gaurikund/Rampur. The tour is downhill and takes around 5-6 hours to complete. You can hire a pony or a Doli to make the journey back easier. On reaching Gaurikund/Rampur, you can take some time to freshen up and have lunch. After lunch, you will board the bus and continue your journey toward Tilwara. The distance from Gaurikund/Rampur to Tilwara is around 60 kilometers, and the journey takes 3-4 hours. You will arrive in Tilwara by 5 pm and check into your hotel for the night. You can spend the evening relaxing and soaking in the serene surroundings of the town.
Day-8 TILWARA, JOSHIMATH, BADRINATH
On the eighth day of the Char Dham Yatra, you will leave Tilwara and head towards Joshimath, which is around 170 kilometers away. You will arrive in Joshimath at noon and have breakfast at the GMVN tourist rest house at Gauchar. After breakfast, you can spend about an hour in Joshimath, visiting the Narsing temple in Joshimath. Joshimath is a small town in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and is considered an important pilgrimage site. The city is situated at an elevation of around 6150 feet above sea level and is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. From Joshimath, you will continue your journey toward Badrinath, around 42 kilometers away. Badrinath is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The town is around 10,170 feet above sea level and is known for its ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. You can check into your hotel and rest for a while. You can visit the Badrinath temple and offer your prayers. The temple is believed to have been built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 9th century. The temple is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is surrounded by natural beauty. After visiting the temple, you can explore the town and its surroundings. You can dip in the hot springs near the temple or go on a nature walk to explore the stunning landscape around the city. The evening can be spent relaxing at your hotel and enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the town.
Day -9 BADRINATH, JOSHIMATH, KALESHWAR
At Kaleshwar, you can witness the famous Kaleshwar Mahadev temple, which is believed to be one of the oldest and holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex is surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Kaleshwar forest, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. You can also dip in the natural hot water spring at the temple premises, which are believed to have healing properties. In the evening, you can participate in the temple's aarti (prayer ceremony) and witness the mesmerizing chants and rituals. Day -10 KALESHWAR, KAUDIYALA, HARIDWAR
During the journey from Kaleshwar to Haridwar, you will witness the breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains and valleys. The bus will pass through the serene towns of Srinagar and Devprayag, where the holy rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meet to form the sacred Ganges. You can take a break at Devprayag and visit the Raghunathji temple, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama's brother, Bharata. As you reach Kaudiyala, you can enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Ganges flowing through the rocky terrain. Kaudiyala is famous for its white water rafting, so if you are an adventure enthusiast, you can indulge in thrilling water sports before stopping for lunch.
